Showcasing a unique global farming network

Nuffield scholars from all around the world have converged on Canada for two weeks of learning and inspiration at the organisations’ International Triennial Conference.

There is perhaps no more powerful example of the impact the Nuffield Farming Scholarships program than the International Conference, with delegates attending from member countries including the UK, Ireland, France, Zimbabwe, Canada, New Zealand and the Netherlands.

For Nuffield Australia CEO Jim Geltch, the conference is an illustration of how Nuffield can benefit Australian primary producers by creating a network far beyond the farm-gate.

“I went to my first Nuffield international event over a decade ago, and ever since I have been constantly amazed by the knowledge that is shared. Attending this years event in Canada, it is clear that with each conference, our global network of farmers continues to grow in significance and impact,” says Jim.

The conference is focussing on ‘Prosperity through Innovation’; a theme well suited to both Nuffield scholars globally and Australian scholars individually.

“Australian scholars are recognised by their global Nuffield peers as being innovative and passionate about farming, but by the same token, we also bring a huge amount of knowledge home from these events too. Perhaps the best aspect of the global network is that the knowledge gained not only creates value for individuals, but their businesses and Australian industry more generally,” Jim concludes.

Eligible Australian primary producers have the opportunity to be a part of the Nuffield Australia program, with applications open for the 2015 scholarships until the 30th June 2014.

The scholarship program includes the Global Focus Program, a six-week group tour of world agriculture, and then a further 10 weeks of individual travel to drill down into a research topic of interest to the scholar and of value to their industry.

Applications opened on the 1st April and close on 30th June 2014, for travel in 2015.

There will be up to 25 scholarships offered by Nuffield Australia, sponsored by a range of Australia’s leading primary sector organisations – for more information and selection guidelines please visit www.nuffield.com.au, email enquiries@nuffield.com.au or call (03) 5480 0755.
