Humans Of Agriculture x Nuffield Australia Podcast Series
Nuffield has partnered with Humans of Agriculture to showcase its scholars in a 10 episode podcast series. These episodes are proudly supported by ANZ Agribusiness Australia. We'll be sharing a variety of stories from different scholars, understanding their journeys, pathways and how their Nuffield Scholarship has helped shape their careers.
Humans of Agriculture was founded by Oli Le Lievre in 2019 and is predominantly known for its eponymous podcast. Now, 16,000 people tune in to the podcast each month.
"Humans of Agriculture aims to help share the real stories of people involved in Australian agriculture, and Nuffield scholars have some great stories to share," said Jodie Redcliffe, Nuffield Australia CEO and 2013 Scholar.
"People who've come through the Nuffield program have impacted not just Australian agriculture but often have a footprint on the global stage as well," Oli said.
"We want to showcase the Nuffield scholars to the world because our purpose at Humans of Agriculture is to try and shift the traditional perceptions of agriculture and build knowledge of the industry from farm to fork and beyond."

Episode 1 - Jack Milbank, 2007 Scholar
Jack Milbank, 2007 Scholar, is the guest star of our first episode, hosted by Humans Of Agriculture founder, Oli Le Lievre.
Jack is a father, farmer, scholar, entrepreneur, beer maker, cattle breeder, and agronomist... In this episode, Jack reflects on the seismic shifts in Zimbabwe's economy, the loss of his family farm, and the tragic death of his mother, which prompted him to forge a new path in Australia and be awarded a Nuffield Scholarship, which has helped define his career success.

Episode 2 - Fritz Bolten, 2021 Scholar
Fritz Bolten, 2021 Scholar, is the guest of our second episode, hosted by Humans Of Agriculture founder, Oli Le Lievre.
At the age of 11, Fritz Bolten landed in the East Kimberley, unable to speak a word of English. His family, originally from Germany, would become first generation farmers in this new community in the vast expanse of the Australian outback.
In this episode, Fritz shares his life story, opening up on the grief that he and his family encountered following his father’s suicide when he was a teenager and of identifying the burden of trying to carry on someone else’s legacy and dreams. He also talks openly about succession and the opportunity that his business has created for non-family members to pursue their own aspirations.
During his Nuffield scholarship, Fritz took learnings from across the world that has supported his personal development, the growth of his business and a topic that he see’s as having great potential in his region as well as Northern Australia more broadly.

Episode 3 - Nigel Corish, 2014 Scholar
Nigel Corish, 2014 Scholar and Nuffield Australia Board Member, is the guest of our third episode, hosted by Humans Of Agriculture founder, Oli Le Lievre.
Nigel Corish was born with Cerebal Palsy, living with a disability has shaped much of his life outlook and amongst the challenges, it has fostered a need to be adaptive and think outside the box.
Born and bred in Goondiwindi, his entire family are involved in Agriculture. His parents moved to the region in 1979, converting a sheep and cattle property to dryland cropping. The move to growing cotton in 1982 would be instrumental in the family’s success today.
Nigel reflects on the impact Nuffield had on his life, And how he was drawn back to the organisation three years after his scholarship journey to become a Nuffield Executive and later a Board member.

Episode 4 - Sarah Sivyer, 2018 Scholar
Sarah Sivyer, 2018 Scholar, is the guest of our fourth episode, hosted by Humans Of Agriculture founder, Oli Le Lievre.
To describe Sarah Sivyer as worldly and business savvy would be absolutely under-selling her. Sarah describes herself as a ‘serious data nerd’ and a ‘serious business model nerd’. Sarah has some incredible experiences and habits that have led to this appetite for continual growth and data-driven success.
After completing her MBA at Oxford University in London, Sarah was looking to return to her roots in agriculture. She grew up with parents she says were pretty progressive in the farming world for their time. Sarah wanted to be part of a business that she could influence, and she could see the opportunity.
Sarah’s Nuffield scholarship has had a huge influence on her last five years. She was actually reading a book about companies that choose to be ‘great instead of big’ which kick-started her research around the globe with Nuffield Australia.
